Humanists in Lower Saxony, Germany, are today holding a public discussion on peace building. The event in Osnabrueck is being held ahead of a symposium, from October 20 – 23, on the topic of Religions and World Peace: Religious Communities and Their Potential for Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution. The organizers of the symposium rejected requests to include Humanist representatives in the discussion of peace building.

Geneva, March 16, 2010 -- The Vatican’s record on child abuse was criticized today at the United Nations Human Rights Council. Highlighting the Vatican’s repeated and ongoing efforts to cover up evidence of child abuse by priests, the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) accused the Vatican of violating its obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

Der Aufruf des Iranischen Praesidenten zur Zerstoerung des Staates Israel entgegen des Artikels 2:4 der Verfassung der U.N. verlangt eine harsche Reaktion der internationalen Gemeinschaft. Daraufhin, am ersten internationalen Tag der Erinnerung an die Opfer des Holocaust wenden wir uns an die Staaten, um die Berufung der Konvention bzg. des Vermeidens und der Bestrafung des Massenmordes und um den Praesidenten der Islamischen Republik von Iran vor das Internationale Kriminelle Gericht zu bringen.
