Poverty

Bihar project

 India

In as much as a project sponsored by the Radical Humanist Movement of India applies the principles of the Freedom from Hunger Campaign and appears to satisfy the requirements of FAO, we commend it for prompt study by the Executive Committee of IHEU. We request that it be evaluated and discussed with the governments or other agencies whose endorsements are required, and that without delay the member organisations of IHEU be advised of the finding recommendations of the Executive Committee.

Freedom from hunger

This Third Congress of IHEU approves the action of the Board of Directors in pledging support of the "Freedom from Hunger Campaign" initiated by the Food & Agriculture Organisation of the UN. And the member organisations represented here to undertake to give this Campaign priority in their programmes.

Living conditions

The congress considering that it is the duty of Humanism to take into earnest consideration the condition of those living in misery and poverty wherever they are,

considering that circumstances unworthy of human beings create a mortal danger for democracy and freedom of thought,

is of opinion that in national and international affairs, one important concern should be the alleviation of these material, moral and intellectual miseries, thereby creating the conditions for understanding and conciliation between all peoples of the world for the sake of the prevention of war.
