Ms Rajni Tilak is a Dalit human rights activist, writer and feminist. A fiercely independent woman, she has long been a grassroots activist, supporting various issues of social and national concern. She was the first to form a progressive Student Organisation in the Indian Technical Institute in Shahadara, a suburb of Delhi.

Hunger continues to haunt communities in eastern Uttar-Pradesh. Every year people die from starvation and from diseases like malaria, and Japanese encephalitis.

Hunger and starvation deaths have been stalking the marginalised communities in the eastern parts of India's most populous state Uttar-Pradesh for the last ten years. Every year people in the region die from Malaria and Japanese Encephalitis (brain fever); they have severe health problems because of severe nutritional deficiency and non existent health care.
