European Union dismisses God in the constitution
Submitted by roy on 2 July, 2004 - 09:26
On the night of 18th June, the European Constitution was passed. Despite the efforts of the Vatican, the Constitution does not now refer to a supernatural being commonly known as "God". But as the European Humanist Federation (EHF) pointed out, the European Constitution still has the infamous Article 51 that grants religious organisations and churches privileges, some of which would be incompatible with the laws of the European Union.
For more on Article 51, see the EHF homepage.
