This session resolves that the IHEU and its member organisations support the GEAR Campaign (Gender Equity Architecture Reform) and the recommendations of the United Nations High Level Panel on system wide coherence whose main points are:

• An independent women’s entity to be set up within the United Nations with under-secretary general status and predictable and sustained funding with $1/2 billion to $1 billion in the first year

• Mainstream gender initiatives and awareness throughout all the United Nations systems, offices and initiatives

Passed unanimously by the session on ‘Women’s Rights are Human Rights’.
