Director of Operations

At the IHEU planning and strategy meeting in late 2006, the Executive Committee confirmed that the main priorities of IHEU for the next few years lie in Humanist development in India and Africa, in the work of the Bioethics Centre in New York, and in our international representation at the United Nations in New York and Geneva, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and UNESCO in Paris.

The post of Director of Operations in London was created three years ago, when IHEU priorities were different and the activities of IHEU were more centralised. The EC reluctantly decided that this position was now redundant. As a result, Suresh Lalvani who has made a major contribution to the work of IHEU in the last three years, left IHEU at the end of November 2006 with our thanks for all he has done and our best wishes for the future. Bookkeeping and administration continue to be handled from London.

Member organisations may be assured that under the new arrangements they will continue to receive a first class service of help and information from IHEU in our shared vision of bringing Humanist values to bear to the solution of the world’s problems.
