UNESCO's 20th anniversary

UNESCO

The Board of the International Humanist & Ethical Union assembled at this fourth IHEU Congress in Paris, July 25-30, congratulate UNESCO on its forthcoming 20th anniversary in November 1966. The IHEU is privileged in being accredited to UNESCO. The high priority given to the eradication of world literacy as evidenced by the World Congress Eradication of Illiteracy held at Teheran in 1965, the Textbook Production Unit opened at Yaounde, Cameroon, and the transcription of African alphabets are only a few examples of the imaginative basic initiatives undertaken by UNESCO.

Similar accomplishments could be enumerated in the scientific and cultural fields. The prospect and plans for the round-table discussion on the contribution of UNESCO to peace to be held in PARIS in October, 1966 is especially inspiring.

The IHEU will continue to promote the aims and ideals of UNESCO.
