Let's not fudge the issue
Atheism is essential as a term that leaves no room for ambiguity. We reject supernatural explanations and embrace naturalistic ones. This is not having a closed mind but one that is open to everything that rational scientific enquiry can offer. Rejecting religious explanations does not mean rejection of people who have religious views. Many of them share humane values (though not all, by a long chalk) and we must build bridges with them to achieve peaceful relations while being ready for vigorous mutual challenges.
This is not an easy path to follow but it is an essential one from the rationalistic perspective.
Atheism is necessary
RELIGION IS TEACHING OUR PEOPLE HOW TO HATE EACH OTHER. IN IRAQ NOW THERE IS KILLING BETWEEN SECTS OF THE SAME RELIGION AND HISTORY TOLD US ABOUT RELIGIOUS WARS.
ATHEISM GAVE US LOVE FEELING AND HUMANISM AND EVEN LOVING NATURE. I AM WAITING FOR THE WORD OF ATHEISM TO THE WORLD IN THIS CONFERENCE.
Secular Humanism needed to stop centuries of warfare
Look at the middle east today. You have 3 religions all fighting over the city of Jerusalem; they're willing to kill for this small plot of ground. This has been going on for centuries; yet Judism, Christianity and Islam claim to be peaceful. The world needs Secular Humanism so we can get all this energy to fix the problems in this life.
This is the behavior you get when a group thinks it has the absolute truth. "I can do whatever I want because I'm absolutly right. My holy book says so".
Atheism Concern
A conference like this sounds exciting, but by using the word atheism instead of agnosticism or non-theism I get very concerned. Atheism can imply a much more rigidly closed minded view of the universe, which can antagonize people of theistic beliefs. Such antagonism could certainly be anti-constructive in promoting secularism and could also be considered contrary to the spirit of humanism.
