Economic Empowerment and Independence of Women

The empowerment of women is a critical factor in the eradication of poverty in whole communities.  Women’s poverty is directly related to the absence of economic opportunities and autonomy.  The release of women’s productive potential is pivotal to breaking the cycle of poverty.  Equitable social development that recognises empowering the poor, particularly women, to utilise environmental resources sustain ably is a necessary foundation for sustainable development.
