New BHA Executive Director
Submitted by admin on 1 February, 2002 - 04:16
Hanne Stinson is the British Humanist Association’s new Executive Director
After a degree in physiology, Hanne did research with the Institute of Psychiatry. This was followed by a stint as a teacher of English, and as a German-English translator. Hanne then joined the Red Cross where she worked for fifteen years. Her work at the Red Cross involved programmes dealing with young people, drugs and HIV education and anti- discrimination training. At the UK national headquarters of the Red Cross she took on the job of developing, implementing and managing an education programme, mainly for staff and volunteers, about the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Hanne aims to help the BHA gain a higher profile, make the lobbying more effective and the education and media side of the work more effective, in addition to building a strong financial base.
